An English Country Garden

By Jimmie Rodgers

I’m propped in bed and posting the blog on my iPad. Hope it’s more trouble-free than the rest of my day. I would love to have a garden like any of these beauties. The trouble is I don’t have a gardener.

See you all tomorrow, or in my dreams.

All Hail The Power of Jesus Name

Lyrics

  1. All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name!
    Let angels prostrate fall;
    Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all!
  2. Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
    Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all!
  3. Let every kindred, every tribe,
    On this terrestrial ball,
    To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all!
  4. Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall!
    We’ll join the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all
All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name written by Reverend Edward Perronet.

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11 NLT

Sultans of Swing

sultans of swingI’m reading the music news about new releases from artist from country to pop when I came across this picture of Mark Knopfler. Who is this bald man? Reading along I discover he’s been retired about 20 years; he played guitar and sang for Dire Straits; and he’s played with Chet Atkins, Mr. Guitar. Do I know his music? Searching You Tube, there it is the Sultan of Swing; I’m enamored with the title! Anyone else remember it?

Mark Knopfler isn’t just a fine guitarist, but a wicked lyrist, telling excellent stories “with American and Celtic folk accents augmenting the country and blues elements.”

Tracker will be released March 17th according to MSN. This is
Henrik Hansen and Mark filming and talking about their work. Hansen made the has a film that is available as part of the Deluxe Box Set.

Who Am I?

Casting Crowns is a Christian rock band that was started in 1999 by Mark Hall. Mark is the lead vocalist for the group as well the principle songwriter. He wrote Who Am I, a single from the bands’ debut album released in 2004. It’s considered one of the best from the self-titled album. The song received the Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. Wikipedia lists all the awards.

The band was asked in an interview where their name came from, and what it means.

Mark: “The Scripture is Revelation 4 where it talks about the 24 elders around the throne, putting their crowns before Him. For me, as a believer, if you’re not careful, little things will rise up in your life and become important. And it will create distance between you and God; and these little kingdoms don’t have to be bad things, sometimes they can be good things. They just take our focus away, and we have to let these kingdoms fall and fall before Him and make sure that we are setting apart Christ as Lord in our lives.”

She’s still around and making news. In her video of 8 Good Reasons, she dresses as a priest.  She is quoted as saying, “”Yeah, well being a priest was just civil disobedience. Although I deserve to be a priest, frankly, better than any of them, in terms of the actual faith and respect [I have] for the holy spirit. That doesn’t mean I’m a good person, I’m not. But you really don’t have to be a good person, in fact you can be a complete #@$*+!#$ ^%$# – it’s about the level of your faith and whether you actually respect the presence of that holy spirit.”

She is shaven, tattooed, dressed in black, with soulful eyes and a beautiful powerful voice. She is unique.

Unchained Melody

Remember the Righteous Brothers, broBill Medley and Bobby Hatfield? In Orange County, California, they had a dream about putting together a group good enough to play in Las Vegas.

What started in 1962 as a dream is now a musical legend

The song I’m featuring today, Unchained Melody, was penned by Bobby and produced by Bill. If we hadn’t heard it before, we’ll never forget when it when we heard it as  the theme for the movie Ghost, 25 years after it was first recorded. I’m backed by an AOL poll when I call it the best love song ever.

So, You Want To Publish

As I read comments and followed links, I happened upon Author Scope. There I viewed a You Tube Video entitled One Thing Every Author Should Know, narrated by Gary Lindberg, best-selling author and ranked fourth on Amazon’s Mover’s and Shaker’s List.

If you’re interested in publishing a book, this video gives you options with all the details necessary to make a decision of traditional or self-publishing.
