Hope

ron and colleen

Ronovan and Colleen sponsor quotes on Wednesday. This is an opportunity for me to think about writers who have influenced me and select a quote that supports my philosophy of life and writing.

The author is unknown for both of the quotes.

I’m slowing down on my posts. The fear is gone that bloggers and friends won’t enjoy what I write or how often I write. Just give it up, Meredith. Oh no, I would miss my friends. I’ll blog when I can try one more time. There doesn’t have to be a stop time just yet. What would I do with the ideas that come to me. Dreaming isn’t enough. I love sharing with all of you far too much to quit.

It is what you do when people from urban dictionary keep your definitions off.

Quit: I’m quitting it now, for sure I’ll come back to read definitions, but I’m not coming back to create and I hope that they get bankrupted and that they all fall from the tenth floor with their asses upside-down.

Quit 2: I have not that much time though.

Quit 3: I guess they’re haters or trolls, peace! Orr, aussie-ass democrats hahaha, stupid people! hahahhaaaa!

Caring For Your Schnauzer by Ima Le’Amature

Ronovan’s Friday Fiction is a challenge this week. Humor from one who can’t tell a joke?  Let’s give it a whirl.

Caring For Your Schnauzer

by Ima Le’Amature

Chapter 4 Toys

You’ll recall in chapter 1 I discussed that a Schnauzer’s intent and  purpose is to be a ratter. Your pet will enthusiastically hunt and kill any small varmint and bring it back to lie at your feet. Of course the dog wants his reward for doing a superlative job, and stands there with his stub of a tail doing a helicopter style wag. It’s quite alarming to look down and see a small grey mole gasping for it’s last breath. What was I to do, give the creature mouth to mouth resuscitation?

With this incident in mind, you think of what will distract your dog from this dark deed of murder. Off we go to The Pet Store. Have you wondered what people did before pet stores? Dishes, water dispensers, beds, products to groom, products to keep the dog away from your precious plants, dental products, vitamins, treats not to mention isles after isles of dog food, and last, but never least, toys.

Here in the multiple displays and enormous bins you’ll find toys that are soft and some made of plastic or raw hide. There are toys that squeak, talk and or move. Some toys that encourage fetching, as in balls, balls made to resemble tennis balls. (Why not buy some balls from Wall Mart? It’s cheaper, and you get 3 balls.) You’ll find smooth balls, balls with tiny nubs, rubber balls, plastic balls, balls that have a light that comes on when the ball moves.

There’s a case devoted for animal toys, anything from alligators, skunks and zebras. Right next to these you’ll find braided ropes in tri colors or solids, in school colors, and in assorted sizes for the Chihuahua or mega-enormous dogs with a warning to “watch your hands, use at your own peril.”

I’ve found that dogs tend to have different styles of play with toys. Let’s say you have an aggressive dog and you bring home an adorable raccoon  that squeaks. Your pet is super excited, a toy! Gently you show your dog the toy. Before you can say bingo, the little carnivore rips it from your hand along with a piece of your own skin. All day long he has the toy and disappears for hours at a time. In the distance you can hear the squeak, squeak of the infernal toy. At last silence. You think you better check. Sitting on his comfy bed is your pet with the last of the plastic squeaker hanging from his eye tooth, surrounded by the fake fur of the funny stuffed toy. an ear here, a tail there. In one day your pet is given a new name, Beast. You are in shock. You are optimistic. It was because it is his first toy and you buy another one. The last time you tell yourself as the same outcome happens with the toy kitty. (See Chapter 13 Will Your Dog Die From eating Squeaker Toys?)

Please give me your critique.

Mark Lowry

Inspired by Colleen’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday and Ronovan’s BeWoW,   as well as December’s traditional observance of the birth of Jesus Christ, I chose Mark Lowry singer, song writer and comic to quote.

mark lowery

I know, this doesn’t mention Christmas. Here Lowry talks about the foundation of our belief, love for one another, and the principle of minding our own business, not judging. Jesus came into this world because he loved us so much.

Mary Did You Know by Mark Lowry preformed by one of my favorite group The Pentatonix

The story behind the song:

“In 1984, Jerry Falwell called and asked me to write the program for their next Living Christmas Tree.

As I wrote the ‘speaking parts’ I began to think about Mary. I have always been fascinated with the concept that God came to earth.

In a conversation with my mother, I remember she said, ‘If anyone on earth knew for sure that Jesus was virgin born — Mary knew!’ That was a profound statement that stuck with me.

One thing they couldn’t take from Mary was that she knew her Child was not ordinary…

As my mind went back to the manger scene, I began to think about the power, authority and majesty she cradled in her arms. Those little lips were the same lips that had spoken worlds into existence. All of those things were contained in the young child lying quietly on her bosom. Even now, he was the very one who had given life to his mother, Mary.

I began writing a list of questions I would like to ask Mary if I could sit down with her — questions such as, ‘Mary, do you know who is in your arms?’

‘Did you know the one who holds creation together, and the one who holds you together is lying helpless in the manger?’

‘Did you know that your baby boy will walk on water, give sight to a blind man and calm a storm at sea with his hand?’”

Lowry carried his lyrics with him for the next seven years. In 1991, he asked his good friend, Buddy Greene, to write suitable music for his poem.

Greene told me in an interview, “Mark handed me his lyrics, and I held on to them for about two weeks. One day I pulled them out and looked at them. They seemed to suggest a minor key approach to writing an accompaniment. I completed the musical setting in about 30 minutes. I called Mark at his home in Georgia and on the phone played and sang the song to him. He was ecstatic! He said, ‘That’s it!’

Two weeks later. we met in Mark’s hotel room in Nashville where we recorded the song on a small portable machine. It was then taken to Michael English who was preparing to make an album. He was the first person to record “Mary, Did You Know?”

Many other popular singers have since recorded it. Kenny Rogers, the country artist and Kathleen Battle, the opera star are two singers that have carried it to the studio. Kathy Mattea sang it at a gathering in the White House.” From The St. Augustine Record interview with Mark Lowry.

Joseph Campbell

r & CRonovan and Colleen joined their Wednesday challenges so we can cover both in one fell swoop, or in a single swift action. They give me the opportunity to share a quote from a writer that will help me to have a positive attitude and to do the best I can to entertain and inform you, and to pass that positive attitude on.

I’m crazy about the combo cartoon featuring Colleen and Ronovan!!! Perhaps it will become part of the Wednesday blog.

Stephen King

ronovanColleen and Ronovan inspire us to share with our blogging community quotes that inspire us.

Stephen King, is there anyone who doesn’t know who he is? I read many of his books when I was younger. My favorite movie is The Green Mile. Recently I read Jerry Jenkins’ blog  posted May 11, 2015, entitled A Guest Blog from Stephen King–Yes, that Stephen King. I enjoyed it immensely because it gave me a different  idea of who Stephen King is.

This YouTube video is for fun.

There’s a plethora of Stephen King quotes to choose from. The one I chose agrees with my definition of friends.
