Unchained Melody

Remember the Righteous Brothers, broBill Medley and Bobby Hatfield? In Orange County, California, they had a dream about putting together a group good enough to play in Las Vegas.

What started in 1962 as a dream is now a musical legend

The song I’m featuring today, Unchained Melody, was penned by Bobby and produced by Bill. If we hadn’t heard it before, we’ll never forget when it when we heard it as  the theme for the movie Ghost, 25 years after it was first recorded. I’m backed by an AOL poll when I call it the best love song ever.

  1. I like this post….:) One of my favourite songs, the first time I heard it was when I watched the movie called Ghost, with whoppie Goldberg and Richard Gere. I love the movie and I really loved the song. Memories. I had forgotten this song. Oh my love, my darling I hungered for your touch a long long time, and time goes by so slowly and time can do so much….oh my. :). Still know all the words. The rumours were they sold the rights to the song a few years before the movie Ghost, came out. If it’s true that’s so very sad especially as the movie was a blockbuster…

  2. I agree…Unchained Melody is one of the greatest songs…ever! (I even used an instrumental version of it in my book trailer for my soon to be released contemporary romance novel: Song of Memory) It’s up on youtube if anyone’s interested. I did get permission for the music from the artist. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LVSSx_c-jA&list=TLfpAQJAzsGo4

On another note: I noticed that you (Meredith) are interested in reading my last book, titled River of Time. I’d love to get another review if you read it!
