Friendship

As some of you know my signature on my email is In His Grip, <. This is a place I secure through daily reading, prayer and meditation. This is the place I want for all my friends to be as well. David and Jonathan were fast friends, even though Saul, Jonathan’s father was David’s worst nightmare. When Jonathan learned his father was coming to the Desert of Ziph to murder David, he came to find him. 1 Samuel 23:16 says Jonathan came to strengthen David’s grip in God. As a true friend he knew the best for his friend was to know God with all his heart, soul and mind.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer a German Lutheran pastor and anti-Nazi dissident, 1906-1945, said, “The aim of friendship is exclusively determined by what God’s will is for the other person.” Eternity hangs in the balance of our relationships.
