Trees

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree.
Opening lines of TREES by Joyce Kilmer 1886-1918.

Wish I’d said that! I’m delighted at the exotic species of California trees. One that amazed me most is the acacia greggii, also called devil’s claw. I call it the thorn tree. As you can see it is appropriately named. The claws cover the entire trunk and all the branches. The ones along the front of the Huntington Beach Hotel  have beautiful large fuchsia blossoms with bright yellow stamen.
